Russell Johnson

Russell A Johnson, born in Vincennes, Indiana, December 9, 1954, was admitted to Indiana Bar in 1981 and also admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Southern District of Indiana. Preparatory and legal education was at Indiana University, Indianapolis with a B.A. in Environmental Science in 1978; Doctor of Jurisprudence, Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis in 1981. Mr. Johnson served on the faculty for Indiana Public Defender Training seminars from 1983 until present, was Regional Editor, DWI Journal (National Publication 1985-1987); Death Penalty Qualified as Lead Counsel 1989 to present; lead counsel six times in death penalty cases; qualified expert as ineffective assistance of counsel expert in death penalty litigation. Lead counsel in numerous murder and homicide cases throughout Indiana; lecturer/author Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum (1985 to present); Examination author for National Board of Trial Advocacy; Recognized as an outstanding lawyer of America; listed in Strathmore’s Who’s Who; member of Johnson County Bar Association (past Secretary and President); member Indianapolis Bar Association; member Indiana State Bar Association (Chairman, Criminal Justice Section 1986-1987); Member American Bar Association; Member of Indiana Trial Lawyers Association; member Indiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and American Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Defense of Drunk Drivers Association (Co-Chairman, Indiana Chapter 1987-1988); Panel Chairman various times and author for Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum concerning drunk driving defense; partner Johnson Gray & Johnson in Franklin, Indiana.
